Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I place an order for my shed?

Give us a call at 919-365-5555 and we will take your order over the phone or send us an email at
sales@carolinayardbarns.com and a sales representative will give you a call within 1 business to confirm your
order and to put you on the schedule.

2.
When do I pay for my shed?

At Carolina Yard Barns we do not require a down payment on most sheds. Some of the larger custom sheds do
require a small down payment. We do expect to be paid for the shed upon completion. We accept cash, check,
Visa, Mastercard and have financing available.

3.
Are there any additional costs for the shed being constructed on my property?

Absolutely not! At Carolina Yard Barns we believe ALL sheds should be custom built on the homeowners site
to preserve the structural integrity of the building. All of our pricing includes us coming out and building it
on YOUR site.

4.
How long does it take to construct my shed?

Generally, most of our standard sheds can be constructed in one day. If you are purchasing a Hardi Plank
shed or a shed that is 12' wide or larger please allow 2-3 days for construction.

5.
Do I need to be home while my shed is being built?

No. It is generally not necessary for you to be at home when the shed is constructed. We do ask that if you are
not going to be home when the shed is constructed that you mark where you want the building placed and
mark where you want the doors located. All of our schedule dates are tentative so we ask that you not take
time off from work. We strive very hard to meet all schedule dates but sometimes weather and site conditions
prevent us from hitting this target.

6.
Do you obtain necessary permits?

It is the customers responsibility to obtain all necessary Homeowners Association approval and to check with
their local Building Department to see if a building permit is required. If a building permit is required please
contact us and we will provide you with the schematics for the building permit.
If the Building Department
requires stamped drawings there may be a delay in getting the engineers stamp and there may be additional
costs to cover the engineers costs. For more information on
building permits in Wake County click here.

7. What type of warranty do you offer?

Carolina Yard Barns come standard with a 5 year top to bottom warranty.

8.
How far do you go to build a shed?

We generally cover the entire Triangle area to the coast. Delivery is FREE to the Triangle area as well as FREE
delivery to Fayetteville, Sanford, Raleigh, Durham, Wilson, Rocky Mount, and Smithfield.

9.
Why should I buy from Carolina Yard Barns, LLC?

Carolina Yard Barns, LLC is a small family owned company. We strive to put customer service and satisfaction
as our top priorities while still building a superior product. All of our sheds are completely stick build, these
are not prefabricated kits. You will be able to see every piece of high quality material that goes into your shed.
All sheds come standard with a 5 year top to bottom warranty. We also require no down payment on most
sheds. When purchasing from Carolina Yard Barns you have a good chance of having the owner himself come
out and build your shed, this will not occur with most other companies. Rob has been building sheds in the
Raleigh area for well over 12 years. We have many satisfied customers and would like to add you to our
growing list of satisfied customers. We would be more than happy to provide you with references.

10.
What payment forms do you accept?

Payment can be made by cash, check, Master Card or Visa. We also have financing options available through
American General Financial. To finance your shed please click on
Online Financing; you will then be
redirected to American Generals secure site and you can apply for credit. Approval takes generally only about
20 minutes.

11.
What do I need to do to prepare my site for shed construction?

Generally you will not need to do much to prepare your site. We will provide free leveling up to 6 inches, there
will be a nominal charge for yards more than 12 inches out of level. We do need at least 2 ft of clearance all the
way around your shed. If you are not going to be home when your shed is constructed please place 4 stakes at
the 4 corners where you want your shed and a 5th stake where you would like the center of the door opening.
We also need to have an electrical outlet available within 150ft of construction. If there is not an outlet
available we will need to bring a generator and there will be an additional charge for generator rental.

12.
Why should I purchase from Carolina Yard Barns vs a home improvement retail store?

By purchasing from Carolina Yard Barns vs a retail store you will be cutting out the middle man and getting a
high quality building at a lower cost. Another big comparison is that we use more wood in our storage
buildings than the large chain stores. All of our floor systems are comprised of 12" on center framing, many of
the national chains use larger spacing between their floor joists. We also provide a 3/4" plywood floor vs a
smaller 5/8" floor provided by most larger chain stores. We also provide 16" on center wall framing in ALL of
our buildings, the national chain stores typically use less wood and space the wall studs to 24" on center. We
also provide a ventilation package that many chain stores want you to purchase separately.

13.
I have been told that if I purchase a building all ready assembled and have it delivered to my yard that
I do not need a building permit. Is this true?

We have called and asked many building permit departments throughout the state about this. Carolina Yard
Barns has been told by all that we have contacted that even if you bring a building to your home all ready
assembled if it is larger than 12 x 12 you are still required to have a building permit. Many of these companies
that deliver buildings to your yard build them as quickly and cheaply as possible and they usually do not meet
NC Building codes. We have heard stories where people have purchased a building and then found out they
needed a building permit and the company they purchased it from could not provide them with schematics.

At Carolina Yard Barns we encourage you to call your local building permit department and find out what the
requirements are for a storage building
. We will then work with you and provide you with building
schematics to obtain your building permit.

14.
Do you need to come and see my yard before the shed is built?

In most cases it is not necessary to see the yard ahead of time, but we are always more than happy to come out
and survey the site  where the shed will be placed. We provide this service FREE of charge. If we come out we
will measure the area that your are considering putting the building and then check to see how level the site is
and discuss with the homeowner what would need to be done to level the building.

15. I found a picture of a shed on the internet that I want built but I can't find anything like it on your site,
can you build something similar?

Most definitely! We do a lot of custom buildings. Find us a picture of what you want and we will get you an
estimate on construction costs.

16. Are your builders insured?

Definitely! We keep on file a copy of our builders General Liability and Workers Compensation policies and
check to make sure that they are kept current.

17. I found a storage building cheaper on the internet, what is the difference?
Carolina Yard Barns routinely finds cheap imitations on the internet. We can assure you that Carolina Yard
Barns uses the highest quality materials available. Some of these cheap imitations use second quality lumber
and siding. They also usually have inadequate floor systems with just 16 inch on center floor framing whereas
CYB uses 12 inch on center floor framing for a very sturdy floor system. The wall framing on most of these
cheap imitations is usually 24 inch on center framing and Carolina Yard Barns only uses 16 inch on center
wall framing. 16 inch on center wall framing is required to keep a valid warranty on LP SmartSide. Another
big difference is the hinges used on our buildings. We purchase a hinge that is specifically created for us to
make for a stronger door, strap hinges generally will not hold enough weight to stand up to the test of time.
We offer a 5 year top to bottom warranty on all of our sheds, ask anybody offering a cheaper building what
type of warranty is available and how long they have been building storage buildings. Rob has been building
storage buildings for over 12 years in the Triangle area. If you are considering getting one of these cheap
buildings ask for a copy of their workers compensation insurance, most companies like this do not carry
insurance.
